Cozying Up, Pt. 2 Moodboard

To go with my previous post about cozying up during the colder months, I created a mood board/layout. Collage by me. Images owned by respective owners.
  • Knits Though I love dressing for the warmer months, I look for any excuse to pull out my knitted pieces from the closet. Though I don't have nearly as many clothes as I desire, I like my variety of knits I have. From a beautiful Ralph Lauren Rugby sweater that doubles as a casual overlay or for my riding uniform to the more delicate sweaters that I have, like the H&M oatmeal pink knitted ribbon sweater as seen in the second from left photograph (though that's not me in the picture). Knits can serve multiple purposes, depending on thickness they can accompany other clothes in layering or act as standalone pieces in an outfit.
  • Oatmeal I don't think there's a food I love more than oatmeal. I eat oatmeal routinely, almost religiously, including, every morning for brunch during my Florida summer but it's perfect for those colder months when you want to just curl and eat something warm. Oatmeal is such an amazing food because in it's purest form it's super healthy and basic, and being basic you can just add anything you want to it! I would compare oatmeal to clothing staples in different neutrals. In clothing, staples are the foundations and then you add in all the other stuff that brings in the flavor. I like to add a number of things, sometimes even all at once: cinnamon, sugar, brown sugar, milk (cold! it neautralizes the hot oatmeal), and a variation of berries, most notably blueberries! Nom nom! It is a staple for a healthy meal but you can enjoy it, too.
  • Music One of the best things to do from under the covers tucked in the warmth and comfort of your bed is discovering new artists. I spend countless -no, seriously- countless hours on the internet just scouring over different blogs looking for new music. Plug in the speakers, tuck yourself in, and you have a perfect way to waste away without even leaving your bed. Most notably one of my newest favorite songs is Rihanna's Diamonds.
  • Fall Roads Fall roads are just breathtaking. Variations of leaf colours falling as you drive towards your destination, and then being rustled by the body of the car. O.M.G. Every. Single. Time. I anticipate the leaves being rustled on the road. Trees looming over, almost touching each other above the road, making it almost wonderland-like.
  • Hot Beverages Coffee. Tea. Hot Chocolate. Hot milk. Hot Cider. Nothing better than sipping and slerping away at something that heats up a cold throat and eventually warming up your whole body. So many varieties, and so many of them only have three key factors: heat, water, milk and then you add all the specifications. Personally, I drink tea and coffee so many times a day, even during the summer but I'm definitely more grateful for it during the colder months. And a hot tea or coffee or whatever goes perfectly with a nice, heapful of oatmeal!
  • Spending copious amounts of time on the computer I don't think I can find any other time of the year when I spend more time on the computer, sometimes even doing absolutely nothing, than during those blistering months of cold. Sure, I do spend time on the computer during the Spring and Summer but what I'm mostly commiting my time to is every bit of sun rays from being so active outdoors. Swimming. Biking. Grazing my boys (equine, not human) on grass. Walking. Hiking. These activities are not quite sought after when the temperature starts to drop. Sure I love doing them, but I'm not searching out excuses to spend time outside. Instead, I look for reasons I need to pop up the lid on my laptop and explore the internet, even though usually it's not too much exploring but more routinely checking in. One of my favorite things to do it catching up with shows I may have missed a few episodes of. Recently, I caught up with a whole season 4 of Gossip Girl, which definitely helped me understand season 5 better. I love finding new shows to start on, something that already has a few seasons under its belt so I can just put everything on queue and watch, currently one such show for me is the ABC comedy Happy Endings.
  • Glossies Ahh, one of the more glamorous activities. Compensating for all the hours of missed reading that were spent doing peasant things, like school studying, working, you know... I have maybe a small stack or two of missed issues that I'm finally getting the chance to actually delve into, aside from the brief skimming I automatically do when I get one of those beautiful magazines in my hands.

From clothing to food to reading, there are quite a few ways to make the time go by when the weather is cold outside and all you want to do is barricade yourself in your a self made cave of comfort.

Be comfortable,
Rebekka
