Picked up this delicious red wine on the way home from the barn! Photo taken by me on November 3, 2012 |
With the cooler weather and the more comfortable, romantic part of fall clearly disappearing fast, there are a few comforts I don't feel ashamed about indulging in. One such comfort is reading for enjoyment. A few weeks ago I visited our library for the first time in maybe a couple years since I first left this cozy little town and all the old feelings came rushing back, and of course I had to start up our love affair again. Currently, I'm actively reading
The Master's Muse by Varley O'Connor, a novel dramatizing the life of an actual legend that reads more like a memoir written by said legend. Think, Ballet, Tanaquil Le Clerq, George Balanchine, Polio, Betrayal.
Lately, I have also been watching more television than usual, both catching up on shows I'm currently addicted to and finding new shows to keep up with.
Nashville.
Gossip Girl.
Once Upon a Time.
Emily Owens, M.D.
Happy Endings.
Homeland.
Spooks.
Hunted.
Modern Family.
New Girl.
Revenge.
Continuum.
The Borgias.
The Rachel Zoe Project.
Last Resort. These are just a few of the shows I like to cuddle up in bed with. Thanks to the glorious internet, I'm able to do all of this from the comfort of my bed, and on especially cool days, I retreat underneath a warm throw -preferably the one with the giant chestnut horse on it!

Yankee, a Dachshund we dog sit for a family we know. We always joke that we're his second home. Photo taken by me. |

This past week as his family prepares for their big move to Texas, Yankee has been staying with us for his last nights in New Jersey! Being a Dachshund means he likes to burrow himself under stuff, clothes, blankets, pillows, so when it's time to go to sleep he burrows himself under all of my blankets at various parts of my bed. He prefers to be left alone when sleeping, but occasionally I try to recruit him to cozy up and I'll sometimes cuddle with him. As I'm typing this, he's laying right next to me. He's not ours, but we definitely spoil him as if he were! We bought him treats and a special chew toy that he loves when he comes over. I love this little guy so much and will miss him even more when he moves away.
These are just a few of my favorite things to do when the weather outside is not so delightful and my comfortable bed becomes my best friend.
stay warm,
