Straight up facts: Currently, I am a college student at a school on the East Coast with a major in English literature and a minor in Creative Writing. I am far enough from home that I can't commute yet close enough that I get to visit my equine babies on the weekends. I am originally from Finland, have moved around the US, and I consider the world my home.
I am an equestrian and I have been doing Dressage all of my life. I truly believe it's a family thing: One of my great grandfather's was a great horseman, who always made an excuse to keep a horse around, even after he didn't need them anymore with all the modern inventions. Surely enough, this love has been passed down and shared throughout my family. My mother is professional dressage rider and trainer, and I have more than one cousin who currently trains or competes in show jumping. It's in my blood, and I can never get rid of it nor do I have the desire to do so.
In essence, I am a hopeful college student who romanticizes just about everything. Despite that most people usually scoff at me I am hopeful about my future, even with the studies I have chosen. I am hopeful that studying what I love will take me far and beyond, to places that people who settle only dream about. I am hopeful that I will be happy with my life but never settle for anything less than I deserve and never become complacent. As humans, we should never become complacent in our states but instead always strive to live better as responsible, productive beings on this earth. I believe in writing, the arts, fashion, style, literature, my faith, and expanding one's mind. I believe in wanderlust and exploration.
I am a writer, through and through, with an old soul.
My style: I have an affinity for anything that emits glamour yet most of the time I like to keep things simple and clean. I have a penchant for fashion, style, and clothes! I believe that loving fashion and loving clothes are two very different things, but together the love can make a beautiful marriage within the person. I love each clothing piece itself just as much as I love fashion and reading about the latest trends. I believe innate style is an important quality for a person to possess. No matter what we as a society say, how one represents themselves on the outside is important and does say a lot of about the person.
My personal style represents my background, eclectic. It's mainly Scandinavian, which is simple, basic, and classy, but never boring! Mixed in are the elements and influences of all the other places I have lived, Texas, Los Angeles, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Wellington, FL. Every place I have lived has brought in something unique to my wardrobe, I feel like I collect bits and pieces, nostalgically, of style inspiration from everywhere I have lived and traveled.
Not only does my personal style reflect regional influences but it also acts as a walking mood board on me. I dress how I feel. Simple as that. If I feel like dressing up, I most certainly do, even if I'm only wearing heels to go to the store or run an errand. Even though I love dressing up, comfort is something that I definitely take into consideration, so if I'm going to be in the same clothes for hours going to class or studying at the library, I try to make sure that not only will what I'm wearing look good but that it's also comfortable. I like to make things look easy even though it might not be. So when people ask me how I walk in my sky high heels all day long, I simply answer, "I walk." But the little secret behind that answer is that most of my heels are actually really comfortable. (Shh, don't tell!) I try not to be sloppy and only wear sweats and sneakers for a workout. As my mood board, my closet has a lot of different types of pieces, and I love mixing and matching everything to perfectly represent what's happening for me at that precise moment.
Le blog: This blog serves as a place for me to project my inspirations, influences, thoughts, and ideas pertaining to the lifestyle I want to achieve. I strive to live an ultimately chic and stylish lifestyle, one filled with adventure and excitement, and this blog is the place for me to document that journey. This is where fashion, life, style, clothes, equestrian, and glamour all coexist as one element, and this element is what I hope my life in the future will come to be.
I call myself the glamorous equestrian because that's what I aspire to be. Many horse people often say "I don't care how I look, but my horse looks nicer than me" but that's not true for me. Even at the barn, I still try to dress to impress (unless it's the middle of winter and I look like a marshmallow...). So as a collection of all my musings and inspirations, this blog will also include equestrian style and inspiration. Because being a real equestrian isn't about getting on your horse once a week and being a Sunday rider, it's a complete lifestyle.
This blog will show that just because we have horses and most of the time are covered in horse hair and slobber, we clean up nicely as well.
If you've made it this far down and read the whole thing (even if you skimmed through and made it all the to the bottom) you deserve some major props! Pat yourself on the back!
