The Cat's Meow

China Cat Fancy on Nowness.com.
Sometimes I wonder if I'm destined to be an old cat lady. As depressing as that sounds it's true. Yeah, it's a little pathetic of me to say considering how young I am and apparently how much life I have ahead of me (still a college student here), but I mean seriously, who hasn't thought that about their future when things are looking a bit dismal and bleak. Most of the time I only joke about it, but there is sometimes that off chance that I do have actual worry in my thoughts. But if I'm going to be a cat lady, it doesn't mean I have to be some weird, croaked up old lady at the end of the street. No, I'm who I am and that means if I do eventually become the cat lady, I'm going to do so with style and attitude, and I'm going to own my feline repertoire.

Above, Lip biting. Seduction. Dripping color. This piece is hot.

I love art. It means so much to me. I can't even describe everything it means to me because I almost feel like art just speaks to me. I look at an art piece and I feel like I can have a conversation with the piece. For my whole life I've loved art, I grew up in a really creative family, my grandfather and mother are truly brilliant artists, but of course they'll never admit it.

Cozying Up, Pt. 2 Moodboard

To go with my previous post about cozying up during the colder months, I created a mood board/layout. Collage by me. Images owned by respective owners.
  • Knits Though I love dressing for the warmer months, I look for any excuse to pull out my knitted pieces from the closet. Though I don't have nearly as many clothes as I desire, I like my variety of knits I have. From a beautiful Ralph Lauren Rugby sweater that doubles as a casual overlay or for my riding uniform to the more delicate sweaters that I have, like the H&M oatmeal pink knitted ribbon sweater as seen in the second from left photograph (though that's not me in the picture). Knits can serve multiple purposes, depending on thickness they can accompany other clothes in layering or act as standalone pieces in an outfit.

Cozying Up, Pt. 1

Picked up this delicious red wine on the way home from the barn! Photo taken by me on November 3, 2012
With the cooler weather and the more comfortable, romantic part of fall clearly disappearing fast, there are a few comforts I don't feel ashamed about indulging in. One such comfort is reading for enjoyment. A few weeks ago I visited our library for the first time in maybe a couple years since I first left this cozy little town and all the old feelings came rushing back, and of course I had to start up our love affair again. Currently, I'm actively reading The Master's Muse by Varley O'Connor, a novel dramatizing the life of an actual legend  that reads more like a memoir written by said legend. Think, Ballet, Tanaquil Le Clerq, George Balanchine, Polio, Betrayal.

A Series of Unfortunate Events

A swan makes its way down a flooded street in the aftermath of superstorm Sandy in Lindenhurst, N.Y.

As all of America knows, the East Coast and New England coastlines were hit with a devastating hurricane, Sandy; and for some areas, this hurricane was combined with a cold front to form the super storm popularly known as "Frankenstorm." The areas that took the greatest hit were the state of New Jersey and NYC and the surrounding areas. It's almost a week later and I'm sure everyone has been watching the news so there's no reason for me to go into detail; however, this is very personal for me because not only do I live in New Jersey but I also live only about 6 miles from the shore. Areas like Sea Bright and Monmouth Beach, which were completely ripped apart, are only a few miles from where I live.
